Compensation

Employees are paid bi-weekly for a total of 26 pay periods annually. The pay schedule does not include premiums.

A bi-weekly premium of $25.00 is paid to employees with Advanced EMT certification.

Health Insurance

All full-time employees are eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance on the first day of employment.

Spirit Lake Fire Protection District pays 100% of the employee’s premiums and 75% of the employee’s eligible dependents’ premiums.

Equipment

Uniforms and protective equipment are provided by the District.

Paid Leave

Vacation is accrued at 7.02 hours per pay period and increases with service time. The maximum accrual is 364 hours. Upon retirement or termination, vacation will be paid out for unused hours.

Sick Leave is accrued at 7.02 hours per pay period. The maximum accrual is 364 hours.

Holiday Pay

All Spirit Lake firefighters are paid for 10 holidays in one lump sum each fiscal year.

Retirement

All employees of the District are automatically enrolled as members of the Public Employees Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI) providing pension benefits to public employees in the state of Idaho.

Public Safety employees contribute 10.83% to the retirement plan.
