BURN PERMITS NO LONGER REQUIRED
Effective November 1, 2024, burn permits through IDL are no longer required.
Please read and adhere to the District’s burn regulations, which are required to be present on-site during any burning throughout the year.
Keeping Spirit Lake and surrounding communities safe, Spirit Lake Fire Protection District provides fire and medical emergency services to over 15,000 residents in Spirit Lake, Blanchard, and the communities of Vay, Hoodoo Valley, and Spirit Valley. The district’s services also include fire inspections and community education.

2025 Board of Fire Commissioners Meeting Schedule
The Spirit Lake Fire Protection District Board of Fire Commissioners holds regularly scheduled board meetings on the second and third Wednesday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at Station 1 located at 32182 N 6th Avenue in Spirit Lake, unless otherwise noted.
